Landlord insurance – Q&A

Is it possible to make a claim for loss of rent if a property has been so badly damaged no one can live there?

You should be covered if your property has been damaged, but only by an insured event. This also covers you if the property cannot be lived in due to damage and/or access to the property is denied.

The policy will cover the rent that you would have gotten from a tenant for a certain period of time or up to the total sum insured. It could also cover the rent until someone can live in the property that is insured.
